Overview
Outlook Express 6 is a MUA bundled with the Windows XP OS. This software package is not free. Below are the settings required for Outlook Express 6 to send and receive mail using this system.
Secure IMAP Configuration

Open Outlook Express 6. Click on the "Tools" menu and select "Accounts...". A dialog box will appear containing the Internet Accounts. Press the "Add" button and then choose "Mail...".

Enter your name or the name which will be used in the From field of outgoing messages into the Display name text field. Click the "Next" button.

Input your Nixsys PAUS e-mail address into the text field. Click "Next".

Select "IMAP" from the drop down list box. Enter "nixsyspaus.org" into both Incoming and Outgoing mail server text fields. Select the "Next" button.

Your username should automatically appear in the "Account name" text field and if it didn't, enter it. Unchecking the "Remember password" checkbox is recommended for better account security. When ready, click "Next".

Click the "Finish" button to setup the account.

You will be taken back to the "Internet Accounts" dialog box. Select "nixsyspaus.org" under either the "All" or "Mail" tab. Click on the "Properties" button.

Users may choose to rename the Mail Account from "nixsyspaus.org" to "Nixsys PAUS".

Select the "Security" tab. Check the "My server requires authentication" checkbox in the "Outgoing Mail Server" section.

Click the "Advanced" tab. Enter "465" into the "Outgoing mail (SMTP)" text field and check the "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" checkbox underneath. Also, under "Incoming mail (IMAP)", check the "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" checkbox. The number "993" should automatically be entered into the text field, but if not, enter it.

Click on the IMAP tab. In the "Special Folders" section, enter "Sent" into the "Sent Items path" text field. Press the "OK" button.

You will be taken back to the "Internet Accounts" dialog box. Press the "Close" button. A dialog box will open asking, "Would you like to download folders from the mail server you added?". Press the "Yes" button.

A dialog box will appear prompting you to enter your password for the account. Enter it, then press "OK". If you've entered your password into any password text fields in the account properties and checked any of the "Remember password" checkboxes, this dialog box will not appear.

After successfully authenticating, another dialog box will appear called "Show/Hide IMAP Folders". This controls what folders are displayed every time Outlook Express 6 logs onto the Mail System. Some users want their "saved-messages" folder to be displayed, so they highlight that folder and then press the "Show" button. When satisfied, press the "OK" button.
